The Observatory Resort Hotel - Port Macquarie's best address - opened in 2004. Located above green parklands overlooking Port Macquarie's magnificent main beach, Town Beach, it features 88 deluxe apartments in a range of configurations over its seven storeys, and beautiful ocean views.
The Observatory is managed by Southern Cross Resorts, whose three directors are family members Chris and Trish Denny and Margaret Chant. The hotel is the realisation of the trio's shared passion to create a resort that delivers world-class service and excels as an industry leader in guest satisfaction and enjoyment in a comfortable intimate atmosphere.
From the beginning of its construction the directors have supervised the establishment of The Observatory as a premier destination. Throughout its five year history the hotel has been consistently rated by AAA Tourism as a 4.5 star property. In 2006 The Observatory achieved National Tourism Accreditation and in 2007 became the first and only tourism business in Australia to achieve accreditation to International Management Standard. In 2008 it became one of the few Australian businesses to earn certification to the prestigious International Customer Services Standard.
The Observatory has been accorded multiple awards for hospitality and tourism excellence, among them by Mid-north Coast Tourism, NSW Tourism and the Hotel Motel Accommodation Association of Australia and in the National Customer Service Awards.
