The Observatory wins NSW Customer Service Awards

A local resort-hotel's dedication to customer satisfaction has paid off in its recognition with a top NSW Service Excellence award, given by the Customer Service Institute of Australia in Sydney on Wednesday night (October 15 2008).

Port Macquarie's The Observatory hotel won the Hospitality category at the institute's Excellence awards night, shared equally with Sydney restaurant Pink Salt. The Double Bay dining spot featured in the reality TV series, My Restaurant Rules.

To qualify for the award, The Observatory was assessed on site by institute judges who measured its credentials against best practice benchmarks.

Hotel director Margaret Chant, marketing manager Kylie King and office manager Tracey Beresford attended the presentation night, held at Justin Hemmes' The Establishment venue in central Sydney. Fellow Observatory directors Chris and Trish Denny are travelling overseas.

The Observatory will now compete in the national awards in Melbourne on October 29. The hotel is also currently a finalist in the deluxe accommodation category of the NSW Tourism Awards.
